What is the need of everything (money, love, properties, power, health etc…), while nothing is permanent?

Why do we have temptations, while nothing can satisfy us?

What is the meaning of life, while there is death?

What is the use of knowledge, while nobody knows the ultimate truth?

  1. The various accumulations of data that make what we call sensory and mental impressions are seen to be totally empty of self-nature;

    Form is seen as nothing other than emptiness, even while remaining as it is;

    And emptiness is seen as nothing other than form, even while remaining as it is;

    Feeling, perception, conceptualization, and consciousness itself all are seen as emptiness, even while remaining just as they are.

    All ways, paths, and doctrines are not other than emptiness, even while remaining just as they are.

    It is seen that there is neither birth nor rebirth,

    Creation nor cessation,

    Neither purity nor impurity,

    Neither decrease nor increase,

    Even while all these apparent manifestations continue to appear as such.

    In emptiness there is no form, no feeling, no perception, no formation, no consciousness;

    No eye, and no objects seen;

    No ear, and no sounds heard;

    No senses whatsoever, nor any objects which the senses interact with;

    No body nor mind, nor any objects linked to them;

    No ignorance, no end of ignorance;

    No suffering, no origin of suffering, no cessation of suffering, no path, no wisdom, no attainment, and no non-attainment.

    Since there is no obscuration of mind, there is no bar to complete present Enlightenment.

  2. Hardship is there so you can appreciate comfort. and if everything is permanent, can you imagine how boring that is? That's why there are temptations because nothing can satisfy us.

  3. ...so, you ponder and ...you ponder again...is there no end...

  4. Hardship accompanies comfort. When everything is smooth sailing, what do you require comfort for?

    You 'temporarily' need everything (love, health, money, food, family) to survive, so you can convince those around you that there is something eternal to live for.

    It is because nothing can satisfy us so that temptations keep us distracted. When you find something truly satisfying, you will have no temptations because you will spend your whole being doing what is satisfying. (Although what 'truly' is satisfying can differ from person to person.)

    Can't answer the fourth question... meaning of life.. if I could, I wouldn't be so curious.

    Knowledge can satisfy my curiosity in search of ultimate truth.

  5. All nonliving and living things have a temporary cycle.  Nonliving things have a beginning,duration, and an end.  And all living things have the cycle of birth, life, and then death.

    Your question centers on cycles of most humans conditions between life and death.  What purpose do they serve?  In most cases as one poster says and it is for survival.  Other posters have addressed those issues.

    The meaning of life comes from love that we give to others.  And it is the love that they give back to you.  Meaning to life is best supplied in the way you meet the needs of others and society as a whole.

    The knowledge that gives ultimate truth for man addresses the spiritual part of man that transcends the temporary limits of time man and all things.  Spiritual truth exist eternal and unchangeable.  They appear not of this world or of this universe and existed long before man did.

    Over man's history man has died for ideas all of his life.

    The ultimate truth in all of man's knowledge is that an idea became flesh and blood and was willing to die for speaking the truth.  That it was the eternal truth and love.  It was willing to do so but unbelieving man killed him.  Yes the idea of eternal truth died from man's unbelief.

    An idea died for man.

    But since it was the ultimate truth it rose from the realm of the dead.  It broke a seeming barrier that man was doomed to live in for all of his existence.  It showed man that he could be more than just physical and temporal existence. And some 50 days later returned to the realm where noble and pure and holy ideas never die.  And he awaits for spiritual men who were born again and believed in the message of hope that came from him who hmself is the ultimate truth.

    This is the knowledge that leads to ultimate truth that you seek.

  6. your next question might be what is the use in asking this question when other people's opinions don't matter.

    or when you can't believe what strangers say anyway.

    there comes a point in our own minds when we have to choose life and being somewhat content rather than analyzing everything. a time to be cautious and synical but not overly cautious and pessimistic.

    The raw answer to your questions....survival. it's all about surviving and making the best of it. you make the choice, either i make myself miserable by asking chicken and egg questions or I try to enjoy the little bits that I actually do like.

  7. Comfort can make hardship more bearable...

    Who says 'love' isn't permanent...depends on whose love...and the type of love...the rest come and go, come and go, come and go...

    Temptations are catalysts one should use to their advantage...

    There are more types of 'life' than one...as there is more types of 'death' than one...

    God knows the 'ultimate' truth...and, if you know Him, he may share it with you too...

  8. Greetings!

    Let's see, to start of with answering your question.. We don't actually need all of those things, they are all superficial materials that we desire in order to satisfy us, because there is nothing better to do in life.

    According to Charle's Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection: Life, in general -- is based on the survival of the fittest. Every mortal tries to survive and put themselves as more surperior than other(s), every mortal puts itself first, it is only a natural trait that we all posess. Yes, there are times when there is a "loved" one and we tend to sacrifice ourselves in order to let him/her survive. Although, that does not apply to everyone.

    Things you mentioned such as health, properties, love etc are things we say we live on because wihtout those things (various things apply to various people) we are not able to promote ourselves to a higher level. For example, if we lack good health, it is a dissability in surviving and allows a bigger chance of being diminished in our industry today. If we do not present ourselves with dignity and abilities, others will have bigger opportunities to take advantage of us in order to promote them in being more superior. Furthermore, the things you mentioned (e.g. love) are inspirations to us in doing better. When we feel that we have something/someone on our side, we feel more secure and optimistic about our goals.

    Even though nothing is forever, we tend to want even more because of sacred our existance since everything will end at one point anyway.

    002. Why do we have temptations, while nothing can satisfy us?

    There are plenty of things that we feed off of in order to gain satisfaction. But the satisfaction can only last so long. We keep doing unessecary things to set goals or promote ourselves whatever it is -- again, to keep us entertained and to keep living, to keep us from being bored. That is why one will never reach full happiness, there are always up's and downs, and nothing is ever pure.

    003. What is the meaning of life, while there is death?

    I don't know. Many say that the meaning of life is happiness, but again, one can never acheive true happiness. However, to me, I think that life is a dream and death is when a dream ends. Just like many inspirations are dreams and goals are dreams. If you think about it and compare life to dreaming, it is actually exacly alike:

    - Anything can happen in dreams as anything can happen in life.

    - Nothing is for certain for both, and you never know what's going to

       happen next

    - Dreams teach us lessons and morals, sometimes it is a preview of

       life because it seems like we are living a different life, and when we wake

       up we realize things or we forget things and we learn    things.

    Also, coming from an Agnostic person, I don't believe in heaven or h**l or any of that c**p because nothing is for certain, and that is life. Who cares? Everything keep's changing, if there is a heaven then we have something to look for, if there is a h**l, well, it already seems like h**l on earth doesnt it? I just think that people need to shut up and stop complaining. Anyway, moving on.

    004. What is the use of knowledge, while nobody knows the ultimate truth?

    That goes back to my earlier conclusion, that we mortals ALWAYS want to know more. And the more we know the more we "explore" and the more we want to expand our knowledge, its just soemthing to try and figure things like the questions you asked. Even though answers are always changing and nothing is definite. People find new things to do in order to survive, we try to find ways to become immortal so we never die (like there's a point to that) we find new ways to promote ourselves as more superior but most of all we do all of these things for entertainment. For instance, why am I even answering your question right now? Because I'm bored, and I am tired of watching the Reaper series. There are so many things that we all do to entertain ourselves to prevent ourselves from going crazy.

    So above it all, life is okay. There's never a beginning or an ending to me. We're always pulled from something and expected to deal with it no matter what. It's life. Oh well. **** it.

  9. i can answer!! what else would we have, what else will we do?

  10. To gain. To show you can survive. Because you will be rewarded later.

  11. the answer you want is not the actions we take but the reason we do these actions. why do we strive for peace when violence is inevitable, why do we strive to stay alive with the knowledge that we are going to die, why do we search for truth when the truth means different things to different people. the answer, because we have to. if we don't ask questions, strive to overcome problems, give in to our urges and push ourselves to do better then human civilisation comes to a halt. our progress lies in our ability to ask questions and make discoveries. think about it, if the first men and women were content to spend their nights cold and no effort was made to discover fire or clothing to bring them relieve from the cold, civilisation will not be possible because we wouldn't be able to build houses or make weapons and other things. All the things we do are instinctual and part of our evolution, they may not make sense to you but on a larger scale, they have great importance. why did Galileo have to stick to this theory of how the earth revolves around the sun? because truth is important, and so is love and power. if there is no struggle, there is no effort. if we don't make the effort, intelligence and strength goes along with it

  12. dude you are not deep, you are an idiot. most 4th graders could answer these bogus and in some cases blatantly stupid questions. the only one that doesnt necessarily have a definite answer is of course the meaning of life question, which everyone sort of needs to answer on their own.

    these questions do not promote contemplation, just self gratification.
