What is the use of confirmation delivery for USPS.?

what is the use of confirmation delivery for USPS? If it is use to track the item, then the label # on the receipt(free) is the same as the confirmation #(pay 75 cent). why do we have to pay extra for the stuff we already have on the receipt?

If you do not purchase the Delivery Confirmation service, there would be no number printed on the receipt. There would be a transaction type of number, but not a confirmation number that can be used to confirm the delivery of an item.

Delivery Confirmation is not a tracking service.
