  1. It seems to be one of the spellings for an ignitor, or lighter for a gas burner.

  2. An 'Ignitor' (generally electrical in operation), is a device used to produce a spark of electricity which is then used to ignite a fuel gas supply, normally a 'Pilot Flame', which then ignites the main fuel gas to a machine (All done under control).

(A cigarette lighter has a flint and flint wheel ignitor that produces a spark when operated and, at the same time opens a valve to give the fuel gas supply which is ignited by the spark. Some ignitors use a piezo-electric crystal to produce a spark by compression of the crystal).

  3. if you mean "ignitor" it can be a great many things. propane BBQs usally have them to ignite gas from  the burner, or it's something to light your gas range at home.

on the other end of the scale, you'll find igniters are being used to supply the high voltage spark to start and run your car's engine. automotive igniters are so sophisticated today, that they usually are being controlled by very high end computers. not the same as your PC at home.
