What is the use of reaching enlightenment and helping other's reach enlightenment if we are all going to die?

What should we do to fight this absurdity of life? need your suggestions..

gaining enlightenment is finding your spiritual self. You'll become more at peace and happier. Sure you'll die, but at least you'll die happy.

A butterfly flaps its wings the chain reaction may ultimately alter the path of a tornado. In the same way the decisions you make in your life ultimateely will effect the whole human race.

Enlightenment is realising your place as part of the whole.

Before you get to die you still have quite a long moment to live. You reach the enlightenment then happen to die but there is still next generation live after you. So you see it is not useless to reach enlightenment as you can live with it during your lifetime and after you die you kind of bequeath it to your next generation.

And although it is not clearly revealed yet for some people, Christianity believes in eternal life, that life after death is not pointlessly perished. And I am sure this belief  is worthy to be taken into account.

think about it, this question in itself offers a decision.... you know youre going to die so do you choose to live out life negatively because of that? Or see i tin a different light and look at  life here as a gift and useful purpose and make the best of it before you die?

Well, in some religion's point of view, reaching enlightenment would stop the cycle of life and death, as you become one with god.

Unless you do so, you will reincarnate into a position and your life will unfold based on your karma, or good/bad deed you've done.

Personally, as a Christian, I think it's absurd.

Being a Christian allows you to believe in life after death, heaven.

May I suggest trying to look into Christianity?

depends what context you take the word 'enlightenment'.

I mean, In a Buddhist context the path to enlightenment means to give up all things materialistic know the four noble truths (all life is suffering, suffering is caused by attachment to the world, there is a way to get rid of suffering, follow 8 fold path - or something along those lines...I napped through buddhism 205) if your going to take the word enlightenment in that context then the whole point is to get yourself out of the cycle of samsara (aka rebirth/reincarnation), go to nirvana (kinda like heaven I guess)... and just cease to exist.

I guess a better way to put it is, if you believe in rebirth/reincarnation to be enlightened and to encourage others to do the same thing ensures that you stop the cycle of samsara.
