In world war II, my father went through h**l fighting alongwith the British army. (He fought in front lines, ready to sacrifice his life although he was not British). He was even awarded a British passport and named hero.

Sadly, he passed away when I was still in elementary section.

Now, I need a copy of his passport (missing) or any legal proof that he existed. I told the lady (from the embassy) all this and she said she and no one else can help cos there's I don't have his passport. Then guess what? She hung up on me!

  1. I would doubt it too. My greatgrandfather & grandfather also fought in WWII and you have to remember that during any war, buildings were blown up, fires engulfed every corner as well as lives were lost. My grandfather doesn't have a birthcertificate coz of that war too.

I would suggest you inquire at a veterans affairs office. You might have better luck there.

  2. I'm not surprised that you suffered at the hands of the passport office they are, along with the Foreign office a disgrace. If your father fought in the British army the war office will have a record of him and possibly details of his passport. You could also try looking on electroral rolls for the time he was in U.K. if you know which town he lived in. Good luck in your search.
