what are the function of these?

also, can you explain to me what is paper chromatography?

as i remember from our lesson, we have to compute something.. what are those? the Rf "something"? please. i need to know what are those for, why do we have to compute it.

thanks.

  1. Fractional distillation has nothing to do with chromatography. A liquid mixture is heated up and vapors reach a column where on a number of plates components enrich. Some components ( those with the low boiling points) leave the column as  vapour and have to be condensed ( this is where you need water as a coolant) and the other components ( eith the high boiling points) return to the bottom.

A equivalent to chromatography's Rf-value is the NTU-value. NTU means Number of Transfer Units.

  2. Hey,

You know cold water passes through the process to cool it so that we get the distilate .So inlet and outlet is where cold water passes .

Paper chromatography is a process used to separete a mixture of colours.

    hope this helps,
