  1. Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic member of the glucocorticoid class of steroid hormones. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant. Its potency is about 20-30 times that of hydrocortisone and 4-5 times of prednisone.

    Chemical formula - C22H29FO5

  2. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid which means that it's a steroid drug that affects glucose metabolism in the body. It acts as an anti-inflammatory (such as for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or to help prevent swelling after oral surgery) as well as an immunosuppressant. Dexamethasone (also known by the trade name Decadron) is also used when a physician is trying to diagnose Cushing's syndrome which is a condition in which the adrenals produce an excess of steroid hormones.

Other uses include use in cancer patients to help offset the side-effects of chemotherapy, to treat edema associated with altitude sickness, and treat disorders such as Addison's disease where the individual is lacking an adequate level of adrenal steroids.

  3. Dexamethasone is a steroid that is used to treat a variety of conditions including, but certainly not limited to, arthritis, lupus, hematologic disorders, etc.  It reduces inflammation and suppresses the immune system.  It adds to/replaces a hormone that is naturally produced by the body, cortisol, which helps our bodies deal with the inflammation and stressl
