Question:

What is the value of Cardboard when you recycle?

I work for a store and we get in very large shipments in many cardboard boxes every week. Usually we throw them all in a recycling bin, and someone picks it all up and takes it. I was curious if anyone knows what the refund is for recycling cardboard in So Cal, because if it was significant I would suggest my store start doing it ourselves and pocketing some spare cash.

  1. I can't give you an exact figure, but it is definitely worth it. Many places have cardboard bundling machines. I think they are pretty cheap.

  2. Sorry Randi you are absolutely wrong with your answer! Please do more research before stating such horribly wrong figures! We ARE losing our trees FASTER than we can grow them and we ARE losing land and soil and WATER and other LIFE SUSTAINING natural resources. and the reason is people with answers just like yours!! RECYCLE REUSE RENEW every chance you get because Earth is our ONLY home and without it we are doomed!

  3. The only thing that is actually worth the time and effort is aluminum.

It takes more energy and work to recycle cardboard and paper then it does to just throw it out. There are trees being planted just for the purpose of being cut down for paper production, among other things, so we are not losing our trees, and most landfills get turned into hills and grasslands, so there is no shortage of landfills either.

Cardboard there really is not production value or "finders fee" for recycling.

EDIT: LOL RedsoxGirlsince1977 you are basing your answers on a movie? Try doing some of your own research in a library and find out what really goes on. Have you ever been to a recycling plant yourself? How about an actual garbage dump, or forresting area... Didnt think so.. Do your OWN research before you start trying to debunk mine. Sounds like another one of those environmental hippies that does not know all the facts on either sides.

Oh yeah, most of the garbage as mentioned earlier, gets turned into grasslands, hills, more areas for wildlife. Do you think the garbage is seaping into the earth and into our foods? Did you know people live much longer now then they did 40 years ago? Once again, research both sides.
