What is the value of a "One Penny" from 1916. The front shows a picture of what appears to be a soldier (spartan like), and the back's message reads "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA:BRITT:OMN:REX FID:DEF:IND:IMP: " around the face of someone. The color is Bronze-like.

  1. Actually the bust of George V of Great Britain if the front (obverse) and the other figure is a lady and it is Britannia she is seated with a shield next to her and she holds a trident. Britannia means as much to the British as the statue of Liberty means to us Americans. She dates back to the time of the Romans that were in England. You have a 1916 Penny from Great Britain and the mintage was 86,411,000 it is not a scarce coin and can be found in normal circulated grades in a dealer world coin box at least here in the USA for around .25 to .50. It commands a few dollars if in mint state. Hope this helps.
