  1. 5x^2 + 39x=8

    5x^2 +39x -8=0

    (-5x+1)(-x-8)=0

    so -x-8=0

         -x=8

          x=-8

    and -5x+1=0

           5x=1

           x=0.2 or1/5

    so x=0.2 x=-8 will satisfy the equation
