yes of course we agree on that... she is not an opera singer and she hasn´t trained her voice as opera singer. Now, saying broadway is bullshit is really disappointing, and there is no point on arguing on that. About Björk and her voice, she is at her prime, and it is not said only by Maureen Scott or Jhon Tavener, but it is evident. She showed consistency during the Volta Tour, which had never happened before. Most of the concerts, she gave quite compelling performances. Maybe you heard some of the performances in which her voice was affected by a flu... That´s out of her reach and it is pretty hard to recover from such damage while you are indeed touring. I am quite sure that Maria Callas would be delighted to hear Björk's voice... and c´mon bro, Björk is infinitely more intelligent than you and I together, and again, I dont say that myself, we have enough proofs. Don´t be that innocent to believe that classical music is the best of all... Art has paradigms but it is definitely never finished.

I highly doubt Bjork has ever undergone "advanced opera training", as Gues15760807 up there refers to it. There's a difference between taking a few classical singing lessons, and training to be an opera singer. Opera singers must be able to sing on stage for HOURS, sometimes up to 5 or 6 at a time, while moving about and acting. People must think standing on stage with orchestra at recital = opera. It doesn't. Opera singers often do recitals, but that's not opera. An opera is like a play, very, very intense play -- it isn't your p***y Broadway bullshit. There's a reason the majority of opera singers don't start working until they're around 30, it's because they just spent the last 10 years of their life in SCHOOL pursuing their f*****g dream.
So don't say Bjork is comparable to these people. She's not. She has a unique voice but she's not comparable to any opera singers. They blow her out of the water. At her age, 45, a lot of opera singers are considered to be in their prime. Yet she struggles with her high notes in live shows these days! Yeah, those "advanced opera lessons" really paid off, didn't they?
Give me a break. You people don't know anything about the world of classical music.
Yes a robusto soprano is very rare because each note has this" fullness" that is supported by the chest, even thouch she is singing at her high scale. So, she uses the head voice to hit notes above C 6 but if you listen carefully, one of the assets of Bjork is the purity and the strong support those high notes have. While most sopranos reach notes like at the edge, very lightly, she reaches them with certain support in the chest while the most of the note is produced by head resonance. This quality has improved during the late years, when her voice has become more rich and more connectedd.
So a robusto soprano doesn't use head voice for her somewhat-high notes? I mean, the very-highest should be sung in head voice but you mentioned something about chest resonance(voice). Is that the very definition of 'robusto soprano':the ''light-timbre-even-if-in-chest'' part?
