I'm doing a small research of comparing an industrialized nation to a developing nation about how they use their water sources. How does Ireland?

  1. Ireland isn't a good comparison as we have many waterways and it is a big country for 4million people.

Countries in temperate climates have no water problems.

Spain would be a better comparison - they recently have had to import water in oil tankers!

  2. They stop watering down their cocktails.

  3. Charges for water in Ireland were abolished to the general public in 1997.  Businesses are still charged for water.

Due to the abundance of water here water conservation is not high on the agenda of conservation issues and is the responsibility of each individual local authority.
