What is the weather like in London and Edinburgh during December?

I live just 20 mins from Edinburgh, in December you can get anything from snow to really bad rain it will be very cold so if you are visiting be prepared for very changeable weather

Pretty cold and wet but not as bad as later January or February. London is usually milder than Edinburgh and if it gets snow, it's usually in February or even later like this year (April!). Edinburgh isn't predictable at all, I was in there for Hogmanay 2006 and it was so windy and rainy that the New Years Eve festivities were called off which was pretty disappointing. Having said that the atmosphere is awesome so it's still a great time to visit!

It's also very dark - this is the darkest time of the year and you'll only get about 7 or 8 hours of daylight.

If you're prepared with wet weather gear and plenty of layers, you just forget about the poor weather and enjoy the scenery and great culture.
