What is the weather like in New Zealand (north island) in june and july? how cold is it really?

i am thinking of going and wanted to inside scoop about the winter there.

  1. I live in NZ, and it gets pretty cold, I think the average is usually about 15 degrees celcius, but it can really range from 13-19. At night it can get to as cold as 2 degrees. But it really depends where you are in the country, I live in Auckland. The temperatures can get near freezing in other places in the South Island. But the North Island can still be a great place to visit, there's a few places you can go skiing. The North Island gets a lot of rain in the winter, but the South Island is great to visit that time of year, it's a bit colder but doesn't have as much rain, and it's a great time of the year to see all the glaciers, the Southern Alps etc. It just depends what kind of trip you're after!
