What is the weather like in New Zealand?

Im going there in DECEMBER this year, on a Contiki tour that will go all over New Zealand, and i need to know what to pack... so whats the weather like??

Personally I love the first answer with the list as NZ weather can be unpredictable.

It is just going into summertime then though so you can predict some warm weather.. but take something for rain and cold too.. Or just buy an inexpensive raincoat and sweater there..

Also, try to put the questions in the New Zealand category..

Putting them in the country Australia is like putting Canada in USA!

I'm from Australia and I've only travelled much further than New Zealand.I do have friends who have been there.

Our December/N.Z's is like the peak of your Summer.

New Zealand is a little cooler,so it is probably a great time to go there.

Personally,I'd take 1 casual for cold weather,plus 1 formal.

The rest will be Summer/early fall wear.

December is summer - so nice during the day, but it can still get chilly at night.

We have just had a huge storm with rooves taken off houses and power out for days in some places. But in December it is normally really nice. It is around 18-30 degrees celcius. =D

Lucky you. You will love it. expect weather in the low 20s during the day cooler at night. Be prepared for a bit of rain .Casual shoes ,jeans and lighter tops with sleeves . I lighter jacket for evenings.T shirts. Have a great time
