  1. Anytime school is in session and no holidays there are no crowds.

    Location & Climate

At the approximate geographic center of the state, the three-county Orlando area consists of 2,856 square miles. Orlando is situated approximately 150 miles from the Florida/Georgia border to the north, 50 miles from the Atlantic Coast to the east, 75 miles from the Gulf Coast to the west, and 370 miles from the Florida Keys at the southern tip of the state.

One of the area's biggest attractions is its year-round mild weather. Mid-Florida's subtropical climate has long been a strong drawing card for tourists and residents alike. At the heart of the "Sunshine State," the area"s average annual temperature is a comfortable 72.4 degrees. Average annual rainfall amounts to over 50 inches per year, keeping Central Florida lush and green throughout the year. Prevailing winds are southerly at nine mph. The average elevation of the region is 127 feet above sea level.

  2. probably less crowded and it will probably still be pretty hot there.

  3. It's almost always hot and humid. If you're coming around Labor Day, stay away from parks on any weekend if possible. Weekdays are really your best bet. Weekends are almost always busy.

  4. Having lived in Central Florida for a number of years, as well as visited the Orlando theme parks in early- and mid-September, I can tell you that the theme parks will definitely be MUCH less crowded around September 11th than during the summer.  September is one of the best times to go to the various parks for this reason (it is also my favorite time to go).  One of my visits to Universal Studios a few years ago felt more like a tour through a ghost town.  That is how empty it was.

In regards to the weather, it will be a bit of a toss-up.  September is still hurricane season.  Actually, it is the peak of hurricane season.  But the chances that a hurricane will ruin your vacation are small enough that you should not need to worry too much about the threat.  But check the weather forecast just before your trip to be sure!  In addition to the very small possibility of hurricanes, you may or may not end up having to deal with afternoon thunderstorms.  During the summer months, Florida is absolutely plagued by air mass thunderstorms that typically hit in the early-afternoon hours.  This is virtually a daily occurrence.  The storms can be very violent with plenty of lightning, but they dissipate rather quickly after the downpours begin.  Sometimes they will be over and done with after only 15 minutes of rain.  These thunderstorms may or may not be around in September.  Keep your fingers crossed on that.  Look at the clouds every now and then through the late-morning and early-afternoon hours.  If those puffy, little cumulus clouds are building up and getting darker, be prepared to seek shelter until the storms pass.

As far as the temperature goes, you can probably expect the highs to be in the upper-80s, perhaps as high as the lower-90s around September 11th.  It is definitely still very hot and humid then.

  5. It will be much less crowded tha the summer--this is a good time to go from a crowd point of view.  The summer peak ends in mid-August.  See this page for forecasting crowds at WDW and Orlando: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-...

Weather will be hot and humid, with always the chance of hurricanes influencing winds, rain, etc.  See this page for links to more detail on high temperatures, chance of hurricanes, rainfall etc: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-...

Hope this helps and have a wonderful trip!! Dave

  6. September is a great time to visit.  It starts to cool off and the crowds start to die down.  I really love it!
