  1. Paris can become rather hot in August, but usually weather is nice. Beware of pollution days when it becomes too hot.

The South of France is hotter, but air is cleaner and beach cities can be humid sometimes.

  2. From 10 years in France...

July and August are the hottest months.

Paris can get up to the late 20°C, although in more recent years we've had weather over 30°C.

In the south you can expect early 30°C.

The Summer is generally good in France, although there are odd exceptions. For example 2003, when temperatures in France were mostly 35°C and above - even in the Paris area.

Last Summer we had temperatures of 35°C and above in the Paris area during July. Yet August was rainy and with temps in the early 20°C.

If you want to find somewhere cooler, go and visit the mountains in the Jura and Alps.

During the Summer thunderstorms are also common, as the temperature rises the weather breaks into a storm. One year we had 6 storms in July/August.

If you visit Paris - pack your suncream and and mosquito spray. In the south pack those and also any anti-irritant cream. In regions around the méditerrainian and the Spanish border - be prepared to find scorpions, snakes in mountainous areas and jellyfish in the sea.

  3. The weather in the South of France, like Monte Carlo and Nice brag to have 300 days of sun a year, average.  I have been there several times, and I never bother checking weather when im down there, and its always been sunny.

I dont know where in the South of France you will be, I think of Nice when ppl say south of France, but you could be on the west towards the Pyrennes, and when I was there in August it wasnt that bad either, no rain. It can be hot, but I would always suggest bring something a little thicker to wear, it can cool down a bit at night, and if you're near the water, there could be a light breeze as well.

    Enjoy and Happy Travels!!!
