Question:

What is the web site to opt-out to stop getting junk mail?

At first I didn't want to opt-out because I wanted to get credit card information but now they will not leave me alone. I get over a large paper sack of junk mail about every 2 months. It's time consuming to go through all this junk to remove my name and shred my name and address to prevent identity left and to recycle the paper.

I'm looking for the free government site.

Thanks!

  1. You can call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT or go to

    https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t

    Hope this helps!

  2. I'm not sure there is a free government site, unless your state has a specific program. I believe it's being discussed however--you're just ahead of the game.

DMA is a traditional site for opting out of junk mail

    http://www.dmaconsumers.org/consumerassi...

There might be a $1 fee. They route you to https://www.optoutprescreen.com/ to get your name taken off credit card offers (this is through the credit reporting companies I believe).

http://www.41pounds.org has an opt-out junk mail program (OK, it's not free, but just thought I'd throw that out there--they DO remove your name from credit card companies).

Also, I suggest http://www.catalogchoice.org for taking your name off catalog lists for free just in case you want to do that too. You can pick and choose which catalogs too...very handy.

  3. If you're in the UK it's the Mail Preference Service at

    http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/

    Hope that helps.

I hate junk mail, what a waste.

  4. Go to

www.optout.com this prevent anyone from getting your information and protects your identity.

    Also go to:

    www.donotcall.gov

This prevents all of the sales calls to your home and cell phone. When these people get your info, they sell it to everyone else.

Register at both and you will be clear of all of the "junk" mail and calls after 32 days.

    Good luck & God bless!

  5. It's called ioptout.ca
