  1. Go to a store that sells them and ask the store manager for that information. You could also Google the companies that make such things, and ask them.  


  2. That is difficult to answer exactly because there is variation between specific types of these two building materials.  Other than the other two suggestions above, you can use the estimated weights that architects and engineers use in their planning process.

    Brick (4 inch) = 42 pounds per square foot

    Concrete Masonry Unit (8 inch) = 55 pounds per square foot

    Concrete Masonry Unit (12 inch) = 80 pounds per square foot

    These numbers are for one wyth (or row) of brick or CMU.
