I know a 12 year old girl that is a 5'1 and she weighs 100 pounds, but she looks very skinny. Should she start losing weight? What is the average weight of a 5'1 12 year old? I want to help her.

  1. She may look skinny, but her weight is perfect for her height and age. I am 13 years old, and 5'7'' and weigh 110! She is fine...but if you really feel that she is too thin, you should try to talk to her and let her know you are concerned about her weight. Don't worry, though...it's her body!

  2. Teen averages

    chart: http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/pub...

  3. Check this site out: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/. It's your BMI (ratio of your HEIGHT to your WEIGHT), set by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to the standards for males and females. Healthy weight is not set using age and weight.

    According to the BMI charts, for a person 5'1 at 100 lbs, the BMI is 18.9.

    BMI Categories:

        * Underweight = <18.5

        * Normal weight = 18.5-24.9

        * Overweight = 25-29.9

        * Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

    Don't compare weight to others using age because everyone develops differently and at different time.

  4. When determining ideal weight, height matters more than age. A woman of 5'1 should weight in the area of 100-110 pounds. So, if this 12 year old is 100 pounds, she is at the low end of a healthy weight range. Of course she should not lose weight if she looks skinny. She isn't too thin though, so there is no need to gain. The only reason for concern would be if she wasn't eating or saw herself as "fat," which clearly is not the case. If the person is trying to lose weight, she should see a doctor as she may have an eating disorder.

  5. pretty sure ur talking bout ur self...well anyways, that is a good weight for a 12 yr old girl. Just dont eat junk food!

  6. Don't worry about that at all. just you need to do is in spite of thinking so much you must change your dressing sense. and wear clothes that will help you look better and best.

    you are not over weight at all.

    you will compensate at time when you are at an age of 17-19.

  7. well, IM 12 , Im 152 pounds. But im 5'8 and and very active and muscular.

  8. Everyone is different, there are averages but you have to take into consideration height/weight/bone structure and activity level.  She also has to take nature into consideration, girls are simply different.  She must take into consideration her cycles, whether or not  they've begun because that truly changes a girls body.

    This is a great site for teens:

  9. If she looks skinny then she must be skinny, and 100lbs seems like a very good weight for her. But if she is worrying about her weight a lot then you need to remind her shes skinny and you should be a little worried if she thinks shes fat because that could lead to an eating disorder. Overall your friend is skinny for her height,weight, and age. Make sure to tell her! GOOD LUCK!=)

  10. Okay, i would say 100 to 130. It all depends on how muscular she is. She should keep her weight on and i think if she wants more, DON'T let her eat more, make her exercise more and eat more carbs BEFORE she exercises

  11. Hahaha... You have gotta be kidding me...

    I'm 4''11 and weigh 130 pounds, but most people cant tell becuz I wear like really cute clothes, and have my hair all fixed everyday. But I mean seriouly, if you want to know check a BMI. You can go to Google, and Type, female child BMI, and it will give you what you need.

  12. go to yahoo and type in BMI index. it means body mass index. you need to select a link and type in height wieght and how old they are. it tells you if you are in the healthy range, underweight, or obese.

    tell her to eat healthy, make her excersice more (if you dont, she might go obese). and make being healthy a habit

    i know a girl, she is 13, she is 5'5" and she weighs 100 pounds. and she is in a healthy level.

    i think she may need to loose some.

    also her bones may wiegh alot. that can make a difference. and if she has some mucsles, that makes you wiegh more.

    so that does not mean that she is unhealthy.

    if you see that here legs are tight or arms, then those count as muclses.
