  1. The white dome is the reciver for the wirless internet which most GNER trains have now.

The trains also have a mobile phone link and a satelite link so apparently you can have internet access even when the mobile phone network is poor.

  2. I think its the air conditioning

  3. might be used for GPS or CB radio int.

  4. It's the radio aerial cover ! ! !

  5. The white dome on top of the trains is for the Wi-Fi Internet which is available on board and is free in 1st class and payable at about 2.95 per hour in standard, provided that you are Wi-fi enabled on your laptop

  6. The white dome, is definately to do with the Wi-Fi internet service which is available on some GNER trains. I've not actually used it myself though, as I travel on Virgin , not GNER.

Virgin do however have Wi-Fi internet access available at all our First Class lounges, including London Euston, Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly.

  7. i actually have a feeling it has something to do with the wireless internet on the gner trains. Probably the signal reciever.
