  1. disposable or discetionary income. it refers to what people have to spend on non-necessities. teens are considered to have significant discretionary income because almost all of their money is for non-necessities. because of this, and the size of the teen market and their influence on family purchase decisions, they are also said to have significant "buying power" (another marketing term).


  2. I think you mean disposable income. That means they make money but don't have to use the money they make on bills like rent, car payments etc. People with disposable income buy more little items and are sometimes easier to influence, many say they control the market.
