  1. Yes, it is true; however on her maiden voyage 700 people came down with Legionaries disease.  The ship was taken out of service and cleaned down completely and on the 2nd voyage, 400 people came down with the same disease.  I think there is a problem with that vessel.

  2. Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas.  They have a new one ordered that is even larger named Genesis.

The first in Royal Caribbean's Ultra Voyager class of ships, the Freedom of the Seas will be the world's largest cruise ship when she enters service in June 2006, weighing in at 158,000 tons. The same innovative and adventurous onboard activities found on the popular Voyager-class ships, such as an ice skating rink, rock climbing wall and the Royal Promenade, are also available on this ship. In addition, there are several other new features that help make a cruise aboard the Freedom of the Seas unforgettable, such as an interactive water playground and the FlowRider Surf Park, a surfing pool that simulates the feeling of riding a 10-foot ocean wave moving at 20 miles per hour. Staterooms and balconies are some of the largest and most spacious on the seas, and are equipped with full-size flat screen TVs. Freedom of the Seas also offers WiFi capabilities and connectivity for cell phones throughout the ship.

  3. The first poster who said the Queen Mary 2 is largest is incorrect. It *was* the largest cruise ship, and remains the largest ocean liner. It is largest in terms of length and width.  However, the largest cruise ship in terms of weight (which is how most folks measure it...don't ask me why, but it's the way it is) is Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas (soon to be joined by sister ships Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas). The ship features pretty much everything you could need while on the ocean...or on land for that matter, including the "Royal Promenade" a sort of shoppingmall/indoor street, several restaurants (including a Johnny Rockets and Ben and Jerry's), a children's "interactive water park", a decent sized pool, several cantilevered jacuzzies (so you're actually sitting sort of off of the ship hanging over the ocean), a "surfrider" which simulates surfing using high-speed water jets and an incline, a large children's play room, a huge number of balcony suites, and I think 3 main dining rooms.

  4. Freedom of the Seas

  5. it is indeed the freedom of the seas. on board they have a jhonny rockets which is a fast food resturaunt, a wave creator which you can surf on, a theatre, a ice skating rink, many dinning rooms, and other things that you wouldnt excpect

  6. There are actually two answers to this.  Cunard Cruise Line's Queen Mary 2 is the longest cruise ship (1,132 ft), but Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas is the heaviest (160,000 tons).  I guess it really depends on what you mean by "biggest".

  7. The Queen Mary 2 *was* the largest cruise ship for a short time, before Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas came out. The Queen Mary 2's gross tonnage is 151,400 tons. The Freedom of the Seas gross tonnage is 160,000 tons.

  8. It's the Queen Mary 2.

  9. Freedom of the Seas is the biggest in gross tonnage.

But don't worry, they are already building a bigger vessel....
