There is nothing the world can do. Such a fight or struggle takes place only at a personal level, not at a world level.

Interesting question.  I think I can say without hesitation that "the world" or "the international community" has never done anything to relieve suffering.  The United States has always led the way, usually without much support from "the international community."  Beware of politicians who promise deeper ties to the "international community." This is 'code-speak' for, "I don't plan to engage evil in the world at any level."
