  1. idk. but w/e it is, the military owns it, i saw it on tv- i just forget the name

  2. I have read all of the other answers. In my view, the An225 is the world's largest airplane. It flew overhead of my house about a month ago. It is being used as a heavy-lift charter to carry over-sized loads. The Spruce Goose is not an airplane anymore, but a memorial.

    Regards,

    Dan

and that is my $.02 worth.

  3. 100% sure it is the Antonov An-225.

Nicknamed the Mriya, which is Ukrainian for Dream

    Powerplants

    6x Progress-D-18T

    Performance

    Max. speed - 528mph (850km/h),

    range with max payload - 2425nm (4500km),

    range with no cargo - 8310nm (15400km).

    Weights

Max. take off weight -- 600,000kg

    Dimensions

    Wingspan 290 ft (88.4m), lenght -- 84,00m, height -- 18,10.

    Capacity

    Maximum load: 551,150lbs (250,000kg)

  4. Antanov 225

  5. By weight, it's the an-225 with a 1.3 million pound max takeoff weight, by wingspan and height it's the Hughes H-4 "Spruce Goose" with 319 foot wingspan, and 79 foot height. By passenger capacity, the A380 with over 550 passengers

  6. An-225 is the heaviest and in my opinion also the largest( the three dimensions...for example the longest may also not have the largest wingspan, in fact for largest wingspan is the Spruce Goose...)

An-225 was designed as military cargo but was built in a very small "serie", only 2-3 planes..

Then comes the airliner Airbus A-380, then the military cargo An-124 that is very similar to C-5 Galaxy(but a bit heavier and larger..)

  7. The AN-225, and it was such a hit, there's only one flying now. That was back when the USSR was trying to keep up with, or surpass, the Jones's (C-5).

  8. The An-225 from russia.

  9. It was the "Spruce Goose"

  10. the USAA enterprise

  11. Your question really comes down to how you decide to compare one plane to another. One of the measurements is wingspan. While this dimension is often used to compare overall size, it is generally not the most accepted measure. Aircraft are usually ranked by weight, the maximum takeoff weight in particular. By this measure, the world's largest plane is the Antonov An-225 built in Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union.

The second largest plane is the A380 with a take off weight of 1.23 million pounds.

If we continue to measure by maximum takeoff weight, the next largest plane in the world would be either the related An-124 transport or the Boeing 747 airliner. Both aircraft are quoted with a maximum weight around 900,000 lb (405,000 kg).

Now I noticed some people believe the C-5 is the largest plane however with take off weight it is not. Here are the top rankings

    Rank  Aircraft  [lb]  Notes

    1.  An-225 Mriya 1,300,000  -

    2.  Airbus A380 1,230,000  -

    3.  Boeing 747-400ER 910,000  the 747-8 under development will reach 960,000 lb

    4.  An-124 Ruslan 892,870  -

    5.  C-5 Galaxy 840,000  wartime only, peacetime TOW is limited to 769,000 lb

    6.  Airbus A340-600 HGW 837,755  high-gross weight variant

    7.  Boeing 777-300ER 775,000  highest available weight, loading restrictions apply

  12. Are you guys sure about the Antonov?

    I thought it was a C-5A Galaxy.

    Doc

  13. Antonov AN-225

  14. The Antonov AN-225 is the biggest plane in the world

  15. By weight, the Antonov 225, at 1.3 million lbs, and bests the closes runner up by 65,000 lbs.

However, Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose has a wingspan of just under 320 feet, 30 feet wider than the AN-225.

  16. it is the= an-225

  17. Yes, Doc, it's the AN-225

"The An-225 Mriya (Ukrainian: Антонов Ан-225 Мрія, NATO reporting name: Cossack) is a strategic airlift transport aircraft which was built by Antonov Design Bureau, and is the largest flying airplane ever built "
