  1. oil, coal, the sun, natural gas

  2. Every bit of energy upon this world is provided by our nearest star - the sun. All the energy locked up in fossil fuels, plants, wind and even biological energy is derived from the sun. The sun's light is converted to food in plants, which is how they get their nutrition. When herbivores eat the plants they get the locked up sun energy and when carnivores eat the herbivores, they get the sun's energy stored up in the animals body.

When trees die after locking up all the sun's energy, they rot and decay and over thousands of years turn into oil. When we refine and burn the oil's derivatives we're just releasing the sun's energy that was stored in the plant many thousands of years ago!

    It's pretty fantastic.

  3. The sun!

  4. Gravity

The earth spinning on its axis through space causes the core of the planet to stay heated.

  5. fossil fuels.. coal etc. uranium is a natural resource also so that will run out one day in the next few thousand years just as coal will in the next few decades

  6. fossil fuels and the sun

  7. Fossil fuels.

Coal for electricity, oil for vehicles.

  8. Ultimately the sun.  Essentially all forms of energy available on Earth can be traced back to the sun or to some other star.
