What is the worst NBA movement / trade / free agency in the history?

There's lots of bad moves, but a lot of the things people have said are bad are just for cap space...trading VC for nothing was cap space...trading Richardson for Wright was cap (and Wright has potential)...

I think the one that stands out to me, though, is the Blazers not drafting Michael Jordan. Say what you will, but it was bad.

However, I think signings are worse than drafting blunders. With drafts, it's a crapshoot...with signing players, you've seen what you can do at the highest level.

Brian Cardinal's deal sucked...Adonal Foyle's deal sucked...Mike James, Marko Jaric, Steve Francis, Marbury...all of these guys got deals that were terrible...and they ****** up their team's cap for years.

Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler.

Chandler never met expectations and the Bulls organization was dumb in believing in a highschool kid. But now Tyson is solid because NO system fits with his game of dunking.

And the guy that said the Shaq trade to Miami was dumb because they sucked is a pure idiot. They won 50+ games his first season then they won the championship 2 years later.

The 1986 Sixers traded an alltime great center, Moses Malone for the number one pick in the draft, Jeff Ruland, and Cliff Robinson.  Ruland was hurt for his entire time, Robinson provided nothing, and the number one pick (Brad Daugherty) was traded for Roy Hinson who was equally inept.  Daugherty became an all star, while Malone continued his stellar career.  The Sixers took several years to recover.
