What is the worst thing that can grow in a dry backyard?

ughh for the past month we have had these mini tumble weed looking things that are poky as h**l when you step on them all over my back yard.

but we only got them from dirt we laid out in the holes my dog dug.

but they are horrible when you step on them and get 238721 stuck in your feet!

Probably weeds.  There are so many kinds that have thorns or sharp pointed seeds.  Foxtails, tumbleweeds, etc.  It might be best to lay out heavy black plastic and cover it with rock rather than just leave it dry dirt.  When the rains come (and yes it does rain in So Cal), you won't end up with as many weeds and they will be easier to find.

Something illegal perhaps?!  ( o _ 0 ) I dunno?  I use to live in the Mojave Desert.  29 Palms California.  The only things that I saw that grew in the desert were desert plants and Joshua Trees.  That's about it.

Weeds, and if it gets REALLY hot it can turn into a fire. and if u have kids, a dry backyard is usually jagged and ur kids can trip and get minor injries. best to hose it down really good.

Is this a trick question?

If you are trying to establish something at this time of the year in Cali, good luck.  As dry as it is in a normal year, it would be hard to establish anything, but it would be even more difficult with the drought this year.

If you want the cops to come pick you up, go with some type of illegal substance, as suggested above.  If you want something that is just awful in general, I would suggest creeping charlie (you will never get rid of it), poison ivy (itch, itch), or this one type of Chenopodium that smells like skunk.
