I am going for summer (June 1 to July 31) to Complutense University of Madrid.

I searched Google and found it to cost between 310 to 600 euro per month. Would it be possible to find cheaper than this?

  1. Simple answer... NO

Accomodation in shared apartments is around 300-400€ per month in the cheaper areas.

If you want to be central... hmm... you´re looking at 400€ minimum...

Get in touch with the uni and see if they´ve got anything available...

  2. Are you looking for a shared apartment or in a hostel or something?  310 euros per month is really cheap, so beware.  i think the average price in a shared flat for a single room in the centre would be about 400-450 euros per month.  have a look at this website, it's really good...

  3. Isn't there some sort of connection through the Universidad or your school for inexpensive student housing?

That seems WAY beyond reasonable, though.  That's about $500US, and, well, frankly, you wouldn't find that low a price anywhere in the US!  (ok, 600 € is closer to $1000, but that's certainly better than anything you can get in my community!)

  4. There's a website called "Come to my Home" @ http://www.cometomyhome.com/ which list "Host Families" in several cities in Spain - including Madrid. The website is kind of "clunky" but it lists home-stays for as low as 11 Euros per night for your own private bedroom. 11 X 30 days is 330 Euros per month.

Maybe "Host Family" isn't the proper term though. This usually refers to families whom take in individuals and give them meals too but I'm pretty sure this isn't the case here. It's just the bedroom. The website has been around for years but I've yet to read a single review from someone who's actually rented a room.

    Best of luck!
