What is the year and model number of a Mercury outboard motor SN 167765?

I am looking for the side mount remote control and the shift and throttle cables.

My source is showing that # is 1962.  It also shows that in 1964 Merc made a 65, not a 70, but i could be wrong.  If this is a DR (direct reversing) motor, good luck on that control box, they are different than anything else, and probably there are few left in existance.  You could try the Antique Outboard Motor Club, Inc.

well it is a 1964 and is going to use the old white MERCONTROL.

16 was only used for 63-64

You need to provide the horsepower of the outboard or the model number.  The number the previous poster could be right or it could be VERY wrong.

Different models or horsepower outboards of the same manufacturer can have the same serial number.  You need to provide the Horsepower rating for your outboard.
