  1. You can start at any age, as long as you can reach and manipulate the flight controls and can see over the instrument panel. As already mentioned by others, in the USA you cannot solo before age 16 and cannot earn your private pilots license until you're 17. The age minimums for other ratings: Commercial pilot at 18, and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) at 23.

All that said, you CAN solo in gliders at age 14 and can become licensed at 16, which is what I recommend if you are under 16 right now. This is excellent training and the flight time applies to further training in powered aircraft when the time comes. Go to: http://www.ssa.org/myhome.asp?mbr=750368... to check it out.

  2. There is no minimum age to train but you must be 16 to fly solo and 17 to hold a private license.  It is not recommended to start much earlier since there is a lot of training required after the solo and the faster and closer you can make the training flights the better.

  3. In the US you can start your training at any age, although you are not able to solo until you are 16 and can not get your private pilot rating until you are 17. I started my training around 13.

  4. I think somebody asks this question at least once a day.  In fact, this is probably the second time today.  There is no age limit.  If you have the money, someone will take you up.

  5. For Canada

You must be fourteen years of age to obtain a student pilot permit.

You can train but the flying hours do not count.

You have to have reached the age of 17 for a pilot licence.

    For the US

You are at least 16 years old. If you plan to pilot a glider or balloon, you must be at least 14 years old.

  6. I agree , there is no minimum age , maybe a size limit dictated by the instructor, you must be able to reach the controls to fly the aircraft. All three of my sons " flew " before they where 11 yrs. old ...& my oldest  @ 9 yrs old & yes that was very exciting flight(all three had "full" control of the air craft on their first flight!!!) ...Enjoy!!!

  7. none. 15 to solo. 16 to Private pilot.
