1. Toronto and Montreal are cities not countries.

  2. Jim B is right. There is more than 1 zip code per city, not to mention the whole country, and just FYI Toronto and Montreal are not countries

  3. A Canadian Postal Code has two three digit/letter sections. The first section identifies the "forward sortation area" and the postal district (the national location) and the second section narrows it down to the "local delivery unit" (your local carrier). Although you need both sections in a postal code to send a mail piece properly, most locations are generically identified by their first section designation (the FSA).

According to Wikipedia, Metropolitan Toronto has 102 currently designated FSA's and Metropolitan Montreal has 122 currently designated FSA's. Within each FSA there are thousands of addresses whose local delivery unit code is added onto the FSA and postal district code to make a complete Canadian postal code.

  4. Canada does not use zip codes like the USA.

Instead, postal codes are what they are called. They follow a sequence like this example: N0M 2P0

Always letter number letter, number letter number.

There are hundreds of them for Montreal and Toronto. I suggest you look it up at http://www.canada411.com/

  5. Toronto and Montreal are NOT countries, they are CITIES.

Just as New York and Chicago are cities.

Canada is a country, and Toronto and Montreal are cities within Canada.

Each city in Canada has hundreds of portal codes ( not zip codes ) .

    Jim B. Toronto.

  6. Canadian postal codes are specific to a group of addresses. You need the street address in order to find the postal code.

Once you have the street address, you can search fro the postal code at http://www.canadapost.ca
