At night I wanted to go see the blueman group and other shows, but what is there to do during the day? We're not going to gamble or drink. The only thing I've found is the Star Trek ride at the Hilton. What other family friendly activies are there during the day?

  1. you could go to a theme park. You can go to Disney world or Disney land, if you live close enough. a family road trip and a theme park visit! that is what i would do...

  2. It depends on the ages of your kids.  Younger kids will appreciate the Adventure dome at Circus Circus. If your kids are older than ten, try Gameworks and the roller coasters (NY NY and Sahara).  Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and The Secret Garden, Bellagio fountains, and the Mirage Volcano can be enjoyed by anyone.  There is also a movie theater on the strip by Gameworks. Outside of the hotel pool and the malls, there isn't much else.  The show at TI, The Sirens of TI has changed a little, I believe you have to have a fairly mature ten year old to appreciate it.  Kids younger than that probably won't enjoy it.   Honestly, there is not a lot for kids to do in Vegas

  3. There are some great activities to do in Las Vegas with families.  I visit there often for family and I have a 8-year old and these are all approved by her!  You can Google all these – I hope you have a great time with your family!

Hoover Dam Tour – very cool and historical.

Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage – animals are well taken care of and it is a nice facility.

Las Vegas Zoo – small and reasonable, not impressive – but it is a destination.

Magic Show, like Rick Thomas – geared towards the family and they have 2:00 P.M. shows.  There is also a Pet show, but the magic shows are cool.

Red Rock Canyon – visit the park, see wild creatures – it’s a nice drive with good scenery.

KidsQuest at the Station Casinos – Now this is my high recommendation!  KidsQuest is a babysitting facility for all ages with many fun activities.  The kids play while the parents get to visit the casino and have a nice, romantic dinner, catch a movie, bowl, or gamble.  Family time is great, but sometimes a break from all that togetherness is beneficial for all!  Reasonable rates too.

The Pool – spend the day in the hotel’s pool.  Most of the hotels have outstanding pools.

Star Trek:  The Experience – Okay, I’m a trekky and this is a great ride/adventure.  You actually get beamed aboard the Enterprise!  You can even eat at the Star Trek restaurant.  It’s in the Las Vegas Hilton on Paradise Rd.

Centennial Hills Park – City of Las Vegas Parks.  This park in particular I have been to and it is good for young ones with a water feature.  Pack a picnic and spend the morning or late afternoon (it’s hot).

I believe the MGM has an amusement park too, but I haven’t gone.

  4. There are lots of day activites in Vegas, some of them are even free attractions. Here is a list. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/things-to...

  5. When you go to Las Vegas these usual things you will want to see for FREE:

    1. Number one on my list is to watch the fountains displays in front of the Bellagio hotel. It usually runs every 15 minutes in summers starting at 3:00 PM; runs continuously until about midnight. Each show is different (there are more than 20 different tunes choreographed) so stay and watch at least 2 or 3. ALSO, go inside the Bellagio hotel to its lobby and view the beautiful glass sculptured ceiling AND the seasonal floral arrangements in the Atrium. ( http://www.bellagio.com/amenities/founta... )

    2. The “Sirens of TI” show (spectacular) in from of the Treasure Island Hotel; it runs every 90 minutes starting at about 4:30 PM. Simply stand on the sidewalk in front of the TI Hotel. http://www.treasureisland.com/pages/ent_...

    3. The volcano erupt in from of the Mirage Hotel; starting at dark until midnight. Again, just stand on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.

    4. Go down to Fremont Street and see the light shows. There are usually 3 or 4 different shows, starting after dark (about 8:30PM) and lasting about 5 or 10 minutes each.

    5. Go to the RIO hotel to see the Masquerade in the Sky show. It is like Mardi Gras parade, only suspended from the ceiling over the gambling floor. It runs every 60 minutes starting about 3:00 PM; the last show starts at 9:30 PM..

    6. Go in Caesars Palace and walk through the Forum shops to the first fountain (its spectacular) then take the first fork to the left to go see the aquarium. Then continue on through the shops to the second fountain and wait for the show to start.

MOVIES: There are movie theaters in the Palms (multiplex) which is just off the Strip on Flamingo Road (across from the Rio Hotel) and also another on the Strip across the street from the Monte Carlo hotel, near the MGM hotel. Then there are more movie theaters off the strip in the Orleans Hotel/Casino, in the Red Rock Canyon Hotel/Casino and the Green Valley Ranch Hotel/Casino.

BOWLING: If you like to bowl, there are alley's in The Gold Coast Hotel/Casino (beside the RIO) and in the Orleans Hotel Casino. .

ACT LIKE A KID: If you like roller coasters, there are roller coaster rides at the NY, NY hotel/casino, at the Sahara Hotel/Casino, and, for those with a strong heart, three rides at the top of the Stratosphere Tower. The Circus Circus Hotel/casino has arcades and an indoor amusement park. There is a place called Game Works below the Coke World experience that has all type video games. In addition, many hotels have an arcade area.

If you have access to a car:

RED ROCK CANYON: Its about 20 miles west of Las Vegas out Charleston Blvd (you can pick up that street at the north end of the Strip) It’s a scenic drive-through park. Go early, not in the heat of the day; there's no shade.

HOOVER DAM: Drive about 30 miles southeast of Vegas and go to Hoover Dam; the National Park Service offers tours there (@ $12.) and its interesting stuff. Go on past Hoover dam to Boulder City and then to Lake Meade for a swim and/or to visit the new casino there. Also, there are tour companies that will take you on a cruise of the river below Hoover Dam. Check the Vegas web sites.

VALLEY OF FIRE STATE PARK: Drive about 35 miles north of Vegas on I-15 and go to Valley of Fire State Park, another scenic park area.

ZION NATION PARK: It’s a long drive (about 2-3 hours), but you can drive North on I-15 to Zion National Park and back in one day.
