  1. we went in 2006 and I took my son to the pinocchio park, I think it's near Lucca, don't know if thats near Cortona??! but we really enjoyed it there

  2. Cortona is quite near to Trasimeno lake. Planty of water sports there.

I am sure there are  horse riding places nearby. you should go to the APT (Tourist Office) in Cortona and you will be given all needed infos.

    Enjoy your holiday!

  3. trasimeno is beautiful - we went swimming in the lake but there were all sorts of water sports available.

no offence but i didnt find the tourist information places very helpful when i went to tuscany, although i was mostly enquiring about transport - they might be more helpful for attractions, i don't know.

Perugia is a lovely town not too far away - the main thing i remember about it is the escalators. These go up, through and under the city walls, into the town, so are quite impressive as well as being good fun (they go quite a way) and saving you the walk up the hill the town is on!

Pinocchio Park is some miles away - nearish Pescia:

If you're going to go as far as Pescia then you msut also go to Florence - gardens and the Uffizi. if you don't go into the uffizi (beware - the queues are often long) then your kids might like the "statues" outside - a euro to have you photo taken with some very realistic looking "statues" is good fun - especially when the statue decides to move...
