  1. It all depends on what part of Belize you are planning on visiting.  But right of the bat these would be my suggestions for what a 10 year old might find interesting and enjoy.

The Belize Zoo: It's about a 40 minutes drive west from Belize City.  The Zoo is not your typical zoo.  The enclosures for the animals are quite natural and filled with foliage.  And there are plenty of the country's native species to enjoy.  I'm sure he'll enjoy the Jaguar and if you ask nicely they might even take out the boa constrictor from the reptile exhibit and let him hold it.

Goff's Caye: This deserted little island can be reached on day trips out of Belize City, Caye Caulker & Ambergris Caye.  You can snorkel right off the beach and the island is just such a nice place to relax.  I'm sure he'll entertain himself in the sand and sea for a while here.

Hol Chan Marin Reserve:  Snorkeling trips leave almost daily from Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker.  You can see lots of nurse sharks and southern sting rays up close.  You also get to see a range of small to big fish.  From Caye Caulker, Ragamuffin Tours offers a Hol Chan Snorkeling trip on a sailboat which might be fun.  It's a traditional Belizean wooden sailboat.

Baboon Sanctuary:  Located about a 40 minutes drive north of Belize City.  There are howler monkeys in other parts of Belize, but this place is unique that you can see them up close.  The guides usually bring some bananas or leaves to feed them and when i took my little brother he held the banana and the wild howler monkey ate it right out of his hands.

Maya Ruins:  There are plenty of ruins to visit in Belize.  However, I don't know if kids would really enjoy or appreciate them.  A lot of the beauty of visiting these sites is learning about their history and Mayan culture.  Maybe kids prefer other things.  But it is an option.

From San Pedro there are plenty of watersports.  I'm sure any kid (who's not too afraid of hights) would enjoy some parasailing.  Or he should be old enough to be able to kneeboard or drive around a jet ski with an adult.  Watersports are always fun.

Off of Placencia there are a few deserted islands, like Silk Cayes and Ranguana.  Day trips out here are a lot like the Goff's Caye trip.  Beach BBQ and plenty of fun in the sun.  The islands here are prettier than Goff's Caye in my opinion though.  There are also tour operators that do sailing/snorkeling trips here.

There are fishing guides that can do a nice family trip of snorkeling and fishing.  You can do some drop-fishing or trolling.  Some guides will even make dinner out of your catch if you like.  These are good family outings, and which kid doesn't like to fish.

Horseback riding is always fun.  I enjoyed it plenty when I was a kid.  There are a few good horseranches in Belize that have very tame horses with plenty of trails to explore.  Just bring a bit of mosquito repellant and i think your kids will have a good time.  Riding beside huge trees and over streams.

If you let me know what part of Belize you're going I can probably give you more detailed options.

    Hope you find this useful.
