What is there to do in Aachen, Germany?

I'm going to be living in Aachen for the next few months and I want to make sure I hit all of the main attractions. I've seen the Dom and the city, but are there any other things outside of the city? Or relatively close by?

There is a great City Hall in Aachen and the town is very nice. The best thing in Aachen is just to explore the place.

In Germany like in alla western Europe, you have cities everywhere, not long distance to drive to find other sources of entertainment. Aachen is close to the Nederland and Belgium countries, France is not too far away (I'd say something about 2h 1/2 drive), it's always fun to cross broder and see another country. No?
