What is there to do in Cannes?

Im going there for a study abroad program and im curious about what we can do in the afternoons off...

When do you go exactly? it's better to go in spring. At the moment, it's a bit chilly there. If you go in May, you will meet lots of international stars as there's the famous movies festival (festival de Cannes). Cannes is obviously really pretty but if you want to see places which are less touristic and real south of France kind, I advise you to go to Le Canet or even Grasse (typically south of France).
