  1. dont go to charleville!!! it'll take ages to get there from the city and theres NOTHING there!!

theres plenty of vegetarian places in the city - cafe paradiso is pretty fantastic!! its close to the university which you should go and walk around because the grounds are gorgeous!

plenty of good shops on a place called patrick st.loads of great pubs and clubs around there too. its not a huge place so you'll be able to find your way around easily.

in terms of touristy things to do, try:

    -cork city tour bus

-womens jail (its a museum type thing now)

    -fitzgeralds park

-take a trip to blarney and kiss the stone!!

-take a trip to cobh (titanics last stop)

    -fota wildlife park

-if you've time, take a trip to a place called crookhaven. its close to the most southerly part of the country and its amazing! not sure how nice it'll be in october though!

hope that helped. enjoy the trip:)

  2. Ok first forget about the rest of those answers !!

Here is the top ten most popukar things to do in Cork..

They are a must see-do because if adds to the whole experience.

there is no point of me listing them..

So i gave the link ...they tell you want you should see-do while you are in Cork..I live in the North part of Cork so feel free to email me any time for more info... I recommend all of these excursions!! :) have fun in Cork and enjoy your stay .................. http://www.blarneyonline.com/id17.html

  3. Expect mixed weather, bring T shirts, fleeces and light rainjackets.

Northern Cork (IE boherbue) is a rural area with little tourism potential. Blarney Castle is popular. Kinsale is a nice little fishing village not too far from Cork. It´s got a star shaped fort built by the Normans to curtail the pirate raids of Kinsale.

For spectacular scenery you could drive along the coast , the coast is beautiful from Kinsale southwestward to Glengarriff on the Kerry border. Those interested in botany could visit Garnish Island where semi-tropical plants flourish due to West Cork´smicroclimate.  You can visit a real Earl´s mansion in Bantry (where the Earl and his family still reside) and there is a museum about a shipwreck of a French warship in Bantry Bay when the French tried to invade in 1796.

You could visit the Gaeltacht on Cape Clear island where Irish is the spoken language (for some older people on Cape, English is foreign language). Cork city is good for a night out but there isn´t too much to see besides the Cork Gaol museum.

For veggie food, in Cork the Quay Co-OP is an institution. http://www.quaycoop.com/

In West Cork even tiny villages have good organic and vegetarian food (due to a generation of english hippies that settled in the area in the 70s, their kids and grandkids have opened ecologically sound businesses). Bantry has Organico  http://www.organico.ie/ as well as a few other smaller cafes.

    Have fun

  4. charleville is a great place there, you are the nearest point to the limerick border and they make the cheese there

in the city there is a gaming shop with a pile of nerds and you can spend the day messing up their games

there is kinsale, the beach at yahol

  5. Try the places listed on VegDining.com:

    http://www.vegdining.com/GetRestList.cfm...

    Good luck!

  6. http://www.corkjazzfestival.com/ check out this link , The jazz festival is on 24th-27th , it's good craic, good atmosphere around the city, enjoy

  7. Cork is a very big place. There is Cork City and then the surrounding county. Are you hiring a car or stayining in the city? A good website is http://www.discoverireland.ie/ .

Cork City is a great spot, lots of night life ( http://www.corkcity.ie/tourism/ ) .

The county of Cork is beautiful to travel around, especially Cobh ( http://www.cobh.ie/ )  and Kinsale ( http://www.kinsale.ie/ )  which are by the sea.

Blarney is also nice (has a castle and the blarney stone!) There is also a fab Thai restaurant in the village.  ( http://www.blarneyonline.com/ ) or http://www.blarneycastle.ie/

  8. Apart from the cheese factory, not much else but going to th beach, which will probably be to cold and windy for in October.

Most people saty indoors and those who go out usually go to pubs for drinks.

Why else would the call it cork if not for popping the corks?

  9. Cork is in the Republic of Ireland, dear, there is no such place as Southern Ireland. Referring to it as such does NOT endear you to the locals.

Cork city has great nightlife, plus a thriving arts scene. Most places do vegetarian options, just ask for them.

County Cork has lots: Stone circles, beaches, the Titanic's last stop (Cobh), castles, but you'd get lots of information on www.local.ie and click on Cork.
