  1. There's plenty to do in the REAL capital.

You can take a stroll up the Mardyke to Fitzgeralds Park. It's bigger than the Phoenix Park...., well, not really, but we like to think it is.

There's plenty of pubs. We'd recommend The Old Oak and Scott's in Oliver Plunkett Street. If you want to go clubbing, go to the Qube, also in Oliver Plunkett Street. You could also go to Cubin's but the bouncers are a bunch of langers.

And if you fancy seeing a bit of wildlife, you can walk around Patrick's Street at 2.30 in the morning or you could visit The Lough and feed the ducks and swans......

(Just get the Number 14 bus to Togher from the city centre, you can't miss the Lough!)

  2. City or county?

Plenty in both, but it is easier to get around County Cork by car.

  3. Walk and whistle.

  4. lots of things in both city and county.

    www.rebeladventures.com for example

  5. Get a train to Dublin! :)

Cork's a lovely city and has the ususal attractions, city centre stroll, nice bars/clubs/restaurants, a cathedral, a beautiful university campus and so on. If you're spending a couple of days there you'll find something to keep you occupied.

Better yet, hire a car and head out to Blarney Castle and also out west to some really scenic towns like Kinsale or Schull or Baltimore. The further west you head the more breathtaking county Cork gets!

Like most counties in Ireland, there's plenty of historical sites to visit. Cork is also good for surfing or sailing if water sports take your fancy. Whilst your down there try and get to a sports match - ideally a GAA (gaelic football or hurling) game but soccer and rugby are well supported down there too (although club games mightn't be so exciting to watch!)
