What is there to do in Germany?

I'm going to Germany in two weeks to visit my boyfriend. I will be around Ramstein AFB area. I was wondering what is there to do around that area and what fun things can we enjoy seeing?

In that area it is wine. Some spa resorts are not too far away, Heidelberg is close.

Contact the local turism office, and they will give you a lot of suggestions!

Drinking. Germany has some of the best beer. I would go check out some beer halls.

head up into the Taunus mountains. it is beautiful up there and the german people there are much friendlier towards americans. also there are lots of castles to see. i always did enjoy that. plenty of history there. most bases in germany have pamphlets regarding the sites to see and experience. have fun. i would love to return to germany once again.

Agree with Alwin, but just in case your bf hasn't planned anything:

I checked the schedule of events published online for Kaiserslautern (the next big city) and there is a party with the best DJ's in town on Jan 18th and Jan 19th in the "Pflaumenbaum" at Martin-Luther- Straße 8 in Kaiserslautern.

Another big party event is the "Midnight Mover"on the 14th, a party focusing on hip-hop and soul music. It is at

Apart from that there is a Ballet show (Nutcracker) on the 20th. Don't know whether you are interested in that.  Kaiserslautern has an excellent soccer team btw, could be that you get to visit if you or your bf are into soccer.

Interesting cities nearby are Trier, Speyer, Worms and Heidelberg. (Most American tourists visit Heidelberg, it is very well known bc the headquarters of the US Army was there after WW II. But the other cities are just as interesting.)

I posted this for another person, so I'll just paste it here for you to save time...

There are many more places to visit, and 2 weeks is not enough. Travel to Barvaria, the most beautiful part of Germany.

1. Take a drive (or the bahn) to Munchen. Wonderful city with more history than you could imagine! From there you are in close proximity to many beautiful attractions and locations. You can visit 3 of Konig Ludwig II castles (Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, and Linderhof) all south of Munchen in the Bavarian Alps.

2. Garmisch is a very beautiful town with some of the best scenery in the world. Also close to the castles.

3. Nurnberg and Rothenburg. Medieval and well worth the trip. I was stationed in Nurnberg for 3 years while in the army.

4. A little longer trip, but well worth it, is to Bertchesgaden in the southeastern part of the country. You can take him up to the Eagles Nest (or Kehlstein) for fantastic views of the Koenigsee and the surrounding Alps. I went last summer and it was amazing!

Oktoberfest. Berlin is supposed to be a very interesting place, also a cruise down the Danube is highly recommended. Try some of the great cakes or beer from around Germany.

Ramstein is the biggest Air Base and located in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. The next big town is Kaiserlautern.

All over the Bases from the Army there. Shopping, food section available everywhere. But don't stay just in the base, go out and look around. Germany is such a nice place and you can do and see so much. Clubs, restaurants, shopping, museums, zoo, castles more and more.

Army spouse and also here at South Germany. Have fun in Germany.

Trust your boyfriend, he will show you. I wonder why he didn't mail you a list already of what to do? Why do you ask here? Maybe he wants to surprise you with something special, so don't spoil it, will you? All I can assure you, as a German, is that you're perfectly safe wherever you go in Germany, and that most probably your boyfriend has plans he doesn't want you to know about.
