  1. Generally the majority of people stop swimming during Sept - most of us are then too busy with family, studying, school, frontistiria and work.

October is very changable - in Epirus it's the start of the rainy season. Most tourist places on islands are closed by the last week in Oct - many closing during the last week of Sept. Officially tourist season finishes around 20th October.

If I had my choice (and I was young) I would choose to vacation somewhere that has a large year round population and doesn't rely of tourist income - e.g if on an island I would stay in the main town - if on the mainland - towns (Preveza) or cities like Patra and Ioannina (as well as the largest cities Thessaloniki and Athens- Glyfada area)

  2. Greece is a very good choice even during the winter season. It is not very cold. I went swimming in October and the sea was really good. You can visit Acropolis and the other ancient monuments and museums in Athens (they are open all the time). A very nice place to visit (about 2.3 h with the bus) is Nafplio (it is full of tourists in winter!). I would recommend Peloponnese in general, the weather there is much better from the north Greece,,,and there are lots to see like the ancient Mikines and Olympia, the birth place of Olympic Games.

  3. nothing...Greece's only nice in the summer coz of the tourists :-P
