What is there to do in Monterrey, NL, Mexico?

Question

My girlfriend teaches in Reynosa and I am going to visit her over spring break. We plan on going to Monterrey for a few days - but I'm wondering what all there is to do there? Any suggestions?

well i live in mexico and there is some good things to do

for example.

go to the bipoarque estrella which is a zoo

there is a sesame street park.

there are many malls

there are many parks

its a big city there is much to do

Any chance you can cross the border into the US during this trip? Padre Island is all of an hour and a half from the Reynosa crossing! Matamoros is close too and they have beaches. Monterrey is very nice though and you will find plenty of touristy things to do there. Lots of sight-seeing and shopping, the mountains and waterfalls etc. Night life is said to be hopping too and they get lots of great concerts there all the time.

Reynosa is a beautiful place, and Monterrey is thriving just like New York, but I wanted to more of warn you right now of the dangers in Monterrey. My husband is working in Monterrey in security and they are actually making him leave this next week because of the increase in violence. It seems here lately the gangs are truly taking over. My husband has witnessed one mans murder, been robbed, and literally beaten almost to death less than a month ago. Please be careful in Monterrey. I would seriously suggest that you go to the surrounding cities like Juarez and such. they are a lot safer. Not trying to scare you, but more of awareness.
