What is there to do in Pigeon Forge, NC with 2 children?

We are going to Dollywood and Dixie Stampede. We will be staying 7 nights/8 days.

1. What are some other good places or things to do in Pigeon Forge?

2. What things should we NOT do or not waste our money on?

Lots of touristy-t-shirt, souvenir type shops.  Dollywood of course (depends on the kids); miniture golf, usually a Ripleys Believe it or not museum .  Lots of outlet malls.  If you've never been I will warn you ----- very very crowded esp. this time of year and traffic is slow!!!!  very narrow roads and not a lot of room.  I used to prefer Gatlinburg (not far from Pigeon Forge) but it is becoming the same way.  Here's one view:

If kids aren't too young go horseback riding or hiking in the Smokies

Pigeon Forge isnt in north carolina. It's in Tennessee.  and holy c**p, 7 days?! good luck not going crazy in that tiny town! Gatlinburg will take all of 2 days. Pigeon forge will take 2 if you include dolly wood.  Dixie Stampede is A LOT of fun, and the food is really good too.. but other than that I cannot imagine 7 days there. Its just toooooo small.
