  1. there is all kinds of hotels and motels near the amtrak station, it's called union station. it's also very near the rose garden where the blazers play.

there is a hilton, marriot, just to name a few hotels.

there is the waterront you could walk along, the zoo, pioneer square in downtown portland

go up to OHSU hospital and ride the tram, the view is AWESOME for the top of the tram. tkae the bus # 8 from downtown to get there.

  2. When i was in Portland last year, i went to the zoo and to the pittock mansion. The zoo was really fun (lots of things to do). The mansion is very beautiful and it has a really cool view of downtown portland. I also went to Multnomah Falls and it was very pretty. My little sister is 11 and she enjoyed doing all 3. Here are some websites about them:

  3. OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). The Portland Zoo.  Washington Park, the Rhododendrum Test Gardens and duck pond on Crystal Springs Blvd.  Take the kids to the Saturday Market downtown on the waterfront.

There's a few very nice hotels in downtown Portland, not too far from Union Station.  The Hilton, the Benson, and a few others.  Portlands mass transit system is very good.  Take the Burnside  Tri Met bus east a few blocks past the Burnside Bridge and that the kids to Old Wives Tales for breakfast or lunch.  It's very kid friendly with a play room and a good kids menu and the food for the grown ups is excellent too. Their Hungarian Mushroom Soup is to die for.  Here's their website: http://www.oldwivestalesrestaurant.com

Have fun and don't forget to bring an umbrella!!

  4. i would check out omsi, the zoo, walk around downtown (there are free maps everywhere), if you want to wonder out of portland, rent a car and go to multnomah falls, its a nice hike to the top.

  5. I agree with everyone else.  If you go to Multnomah Falls, on the way back stop at Bonneville Dam and take the tour to see inside.  If you go to the zoo, I'd recommend taking the MAX light rail because it has a cool underground station there.  Also, the zoo has a narrow gauge railroad that fun to ride.
