I live in a town that route 66 runs through and i would suggest that you never drive it the only highlight is a cheesy museum where you have to listen to the ancient people talk about a road. Go To DISNEY instead

if you get so far, the little town of Oatman Arizona is really cool and fun to look around. It's across the Colorado River from Laughlin, NV and then about 20 minutes into the hills. There are donkeys roaming the streets who are descendants of the ones released by miners when they left town. There is also a restaurant that serves rattlesnake and really good indian tacos! have a fun drive!

route 66 is the old super highway that  runs from chicago to california.   What's left of it is a two lane road that  goes in segments, in some places you can find 66 in others is just an outer road leading to someones house or farm.  There are books that describe 66 then and now you can probably get one from the library in your city
