I always have a hard time figuring out what my girlfriend and I should do in Winnipeg. So aside from walks at the forks, movies, or just staying in, what is there?

  1. Winnipeg has some awesome restaurants, check out Carlos and Murphy's for wings, nachos and if your old enough, beers!

Window shop in Osborne Village while your there. Corydon Avenue is an awesome summer venue, window shop, enjoy gelati's , check out Sugar Mountain and enjoy lunch on a patio at one of the wonderful restaurants on the strip.

Go for ice cream at BDI or the Banana Boat!

The zoo is tons of fun and a great date, so is the Assiniboine park if you bring a soccer ball or what have you.

You could also check out Vertical Adventures, the art gallery and or museums....

Make a trip out to Grand Beach. Check out the indoor pools in Winnipeg, tour Oak Hammock Marsh...

Ok, I'm done for now! :)

  2. Sit at a window and watch the snow fall.

  3. I always found a lot of things to do when I lived there...

    1) go to the zoo - it's cheap and pretty good

    2) when summer hits, check out Assiniboine park - take a bike ride

    3) walk through the old market area.  There are some great old stores in the area (a little off the beaten path, along Princess).  Often you can ask to take the old elevators up to other floors - well you used to be able to.  There is a lot of old stuff in some of those stores

    4) I used to like going down to the flood gates in the spring.

    5) As someone mentioned, there are so many great restaurants in Winnipeg.  There are some really interesting ethnic ones along Broadway, if I remember correctly.

    6) Head over to Wolsley and check out the bakery and take a walk through the neighbourhood.  There are some interesting little gems in that area no that it's revitalized.

    7) Surprisingly, there are a lot of little historical museums in Winnipeg.  I remember running into Gabrielle Roy's museum in St. Vital (I think that's where I saw it).  There is also the Metis village in st. Norbert.  There is also a museum near the St. Boniface Cathedral.  I think it was the Grey Nuns or something.  I can't fully remember.  Also the Museum of Man and Nature is pretty interesting.  So is the planetarium.

    8) You two could rent a garden plot and do that together throughout the summer.  http://www.winnipeg.ca/cms/Leisure/pdfs/...

    9)  You two could sign up for a class together.  The city offers a lot of informative classes as well as fun and active classes.

    10) Join a group together.  Are you both interested in photography?  or Maybe vegetarian eating?  Check on Meetup.com and see what clubs and activities are going on in your area.

    Hope that helps!
