  1. well.. it depends if you have a car or not. I live here, but don't drive so theres a lot of things I can't tell you about, but I will try!

In alicante, its definitely worth visiting the castle, as well as he archaeological museum. There are loads of smaller museums around Alicante, especially in 'El barrio' which is a the foot of the castle. There you will find the cathedral, church, some lovely buildings, and countless bars and restaurants. If you're looking for good nightlife, head to el barrio from whatever time until about 4am, then head to the port until 6/7am.

Theres a small island near by called Tabarca, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabarca) You can catch a ferry there from the port in Alicante and I would recommend you visit it, it costs about 18e for a round trip and in august there should be a few boats going there and back every day.

Theres a town close by Called Elche which is one of my favorite places, its a very pretty town with a few small museums (art, archeology etc..) and a beautiful garden (Huerta del Cura) With palm trees and lovely flowers. You can get the bus there from Alicante bus stop, costs a couple of euroes and takes about 40 minutes. Theres a safari park as well, but can be hard to get to without a car. Elche costs abou 1.80e one way on the bus, from alicante bus station.

If you don't mind sitting on the tram for a bit, you can visit the town of La Villa Joyosa, just under an hour away. Theres a lovely beach, and also a chocolate factory and museum, which is free to visit.

If you're with kids (or want some fun) theres loads of other things to do. If you take the tram to Benidorm, you'll find a theme park (Terra Mitica), a couple of water parks, as well as a zoo I think. Benidorm's about an hour away on the tram. costs about 6e return, if you'e planning on staying there late, the last trams about 10.30, i think they run night trams during the summer but check to be sure. You can also get a bus from alicante bus station.  The entrance fee to these places can be expensive, but if you look out for offers in the supermarket, tourism office, and around benidorm town you can get good discounts.

Also, Valencia is definitely worth a visit, although it can be a bit expensive to get there by train. if you go there, go the the area with the museums, even if you dont want to go inside (they can be expensive) the buildings are amazing.

Hope that was of some help, If you want more information about any of these things I would search on the web, or go to the Tourist Information center on La Rambla. They will be able to tell you everything, prices, opening times, how to get places, as well as more information on what is worth visiting if you have a car :) Hope you have a good time, i'll be back in England by then :(

  2. There are a few things you could do in 9 days... Go to the castle! You can go to the museum, la playa, take a bus to Elche, and then take a train to Valencia, it's pretty nice! At night go to el barrio, you'll be sure to make friends there and then go to a club after the pubs close like SWING (that's where alot of Americans go, but there are also a bunch of other type of people there), Z (they call it zeta, it's pretty cool) and of course there are many more to choose from, just follow the crowd and see which one you like the best, but unless you walk in with the right people, you'll have to pay! And then stay out and go to the PORT, a bunch of spanish people go there and party til 11 the next day! It's so much fun!!!
