  1. well, not a whole lot, it's a pretty mellow town, but the aquarium is really great! go to a local grocery, pack a picnic and go enjoy it on the water, stay at a hotel with a pool and sauna to relax or go to one of their spas and get a massage!

  2. Take a ride to Carmel and take a drive down 17 Mile Drive. It's a nice drive and there are little marks on the way through it where you can stop and take pictures by the water. It's beautiful.

  3. They have some nice restaurants on the water on Cannery Row.  That's about it...really.  I lived there and was always looking for something to do.

  4. My husband and I love Monterey! Depending on the weather, you can go snorkeling or kayaking, definitely visit Steinbeck's Cannery Row. Have you read the book? If not, you might consider readnig it before you go or even while you're there. It's an enjoyable, easy read. A jaunt to Carmel is always nice, too. If you're traveling from the south, DEFINTELY see Hearst castle - it's incredible! Also nearby Cambria is a charming little town.

    Have fun!

  5. Treat yourself to ride on the Big Sur, look it up online. It's the coastal highway from Pacific Grove(next town at Monterey) to Santa Barbara but you can turn around anytime. It is sooooooooo amazing...the cliffs, the Santa Lucia Mts, the pacific, the redwoods. Believe me you won't be disappointed !!!!!!!!!!!

  6. There are lots of wineries in the Monterey area.  There are 5 or 6 that have wine tasting rooms on Cannery Row in Monterey.  My favorite area to go wine tasting though is the Carmel Valley.  There are many great wineries and it's a short scenic drive.
