  1. Skating on the Rideau. Should be some ice by then.

  2. The Canal may not be open at that time, so skating could be a problem.. there would likely be some outdoor rinks though.

If you're a hockey fan, Ottawa is hosting the World junior championship and also has the 67's (OHL) and Senators (NHL). The Senators games can be somewhat expensive though.

There are ski hills not too far from the area (Camp Fortune and Mont Saint Marie) if you like to ski

Tobogganing is fun and cheap too..the best hill is Carlington

There are plenty of museums in the area to see:

During that time there will be lots of concerts at the NAC as well. Add that with a nightlife in the Byward Market or on Elgin street you can have some fun.

    Also check this events calandar:

basically if you're lost, there are things to find on the Ottawa.ca site.

good luck and enjoy your stay!

  3. If it's open, go skating at the Rideau canal.

At the Chateau Laurier (downtown, near the Rideau Center) they have BEAUTIFUL Christmas trees decorated by various businesses in Ottawa.

Go shopping at any mall. (The big ones are : Bayshore, in the West End; Place D'Orleans in the East End; Rideau Center downtown and St.Laurent  in the 'middle')

The Nut Cracker usually plays at the NAC, but if you are w/ your boyfriend, he may not want to do that. There are probably other shows, too.

There are a number of museums in Ottawa; The War Museum, The Aviation Museum, The Science and Tech Museum, and the Civilisation Museum (it is just outside of Ottawa, on the Quebec Side)

You could also go and enjoy downtown.

I recommend that one day you go down to the market, and go to Zac's Dinner. It's open 24 hrs. a day, and the food is DELICIOUS! It will keep you full all day!

    Have fun on your holiday!

  4. Check out the Christmas tree displays at the Chateau Laurier hotel.
