  1. Go and visit winnie mandela and see how to beat, torture and kill people, just like her terroist husband did all those years ago!

  2. I live in South Africa and absolutely love it. While there are many things to do in Cape Town and Johannesburg, it's always good to do some exploring of your own. Take a backpackers bus (like the Baz Bus) and go backpacking around South Africa. I live along the Garden Route, and I highly recommend exploring this area. Good luck and have fun!

  3. There is a lot to do, If you like the beach then either Cape Town or the South coast are great. I'd advise going to the Kruger National Park on a safari or if you like mountains then the Drakensburg is good.  And as far as the crime is concerned, well it is very bad so try keep to the resorts.

  4. It's a very big country so it depends where you go.

Safari's are good, and can be found all over the country

The beaches around Cape Town are excellent, althoug the water is cold

The beaches on the Eastern Cape are also good, but the warmer water attracts sharks

Wine tours in the south are also worth visiting

Cape Town is very cosmopolitan and the V&A waterfront is well worth visiting

Robben Island is a must visit

Cape Point is also well worth seeing

  5. If you sit still long enough at a coffee shop, then they might steal the milk from your coffee. If you drive slow enough then they might steal the tyres from your car also. If you stand still for a moment then you just might get raped or mugged. So there is lots of activities that will keep you busy at Police stations your whole vacation long.

If you need to buy anything, just ask at the traffic lights. You can buy ANYTHING there!

  6. If you go backpacking in South Africa you will end up as a s*x toy for every African male, under 60, in the area.

Go with a reputable tour guide company, they will advise you and try to keep you safe, but SA is a very dangerous place to be, any where is dangerous so be very careful and do not go anywhere alone.

  7. Victoria Falls, Table Mountain, the Transvaal - it's the most beautiful country on Earth - just go and look around you and be amazed!

  8. Gods' Window in Graskop, amazing!  Natural Potholes and waterfalls in Sabie.  Wild animals in the Kruger National Park.  I think you must just book yourself in one of the Private Game reserve in Mpumalanga!  It's really amazing!  Wake up very early in the morning and go for a game drive!  You can also do Bundu bashing, quad biking, hiking, rock climbing, river rafting, and bungi jumping.  Mpumalanga is really a lovely place. Crime rate is not as high as in the cities.  Google, Mpumalanga tourism on the internet. And make your own decision.

September is a good time to go - not too hot and not too cold but cool enough in the evenings for a sweater or light jacket so be sure to take one with you.And absolutely, do not forget your camera.

Safety wise follow the same rules you would anywhere else - do not leave your belongings unattended in airports, buses, stores etc., do not flash your money, if you are driving, do not pick up hitchhikers or stop for stranded cars - call the police who will take care of those people, get a cell phone for such things . South Africa is a great place to buy good jewelry - it is after all the diamond center of the world but costume jewelry is what you should wear. There are a lot of desperately poor people here so do not tempt them or fate by flashing your wealth and if you can afford a trip to SA you are rich by their standards, whether you think you are or not. Do not take a stroll alone at night or to areas you have not checked about with someone in the know - it IS a foreign country with a lot of poor people.

Having given the warning, SA gets a lot of tourists every year and those who follow those rules seldom, if ever, get into any trouble and have a great time.

    Enjoy!
